More than 3 decades ago Linda Sutton had a dream to share her excitement about art with as many people as possible. Since then her popular series of art exhibitions, initially in Brooklyn, NY at Gallerie St. Charles, and later in Washington DC metropolitan area at Gallerie Henlopen and other venues, have attracted art patrons – novice and astute collectors from throughout the nation. She celebrates 40 years in the arts. As former Director of The Afro-American Caribbean Culture Center, and more recently gallery owner she has been involved in a number of art projects that have enhanced the careers of many artists. She credits the late Lawrence Dorsey from the Dorsey Art Gallery and Jim Powers from Spiral Gallery (her mentors) for their continuous support, guidance and exposure.
In her early years, while learning about art with no formal education in art.
Ms. Sutton volunteered at The Center for Art and Culture of Bedford Stuyvesant (Skylight Gallery) and under the Tuttledge of the Director Theodore Gunn and Assistant Director Che’ Baraka she met and befriended a host of artists whom she continues to work with.
In the 80s Linda developed and coordinated a cultural exchange program with the Jamaica School of Art in Jamaica WI. The artist, Arthur Coppedge was selected to teach at the school in Kingston, Jamaica.
